PageHeat Index Gets a Boost

Posted 2009-06-05 in General

PageHeat underwent a few changes last night that introduced new data to our index. We're now moving into the second phase of updates to PageHeat that will increase the accuracy and breadth of our site rating system. A fundamental part of this process is gathering more data.

Currently PageHeat is based on two key realms of data analysis: visitor traffic and link popularity. While these are inarguably two of the most fundamental qualities of a website's success, one of our goals with PageHeat is to tap into as much data as possible. In order to have the utility of a simple rating system without sacrificing quality, we believe that you start with large amounts of data.

Once you have the most comprehensive, accurate, and current information available about a website from as many sources as possible, you can then analyze and interpret the data intelligently. This is exactly what we're doing with PageHeat, and so far we're getting some great results. Analyzing and interpreting the data is a pretty huge task, and misinterpreting the data could lead to catastrophe!

Numbers simply aren't everything, so our latest update is bringing more relevancy metrics onboard. You'll start to see some interesting stuff show up on your site's PageHeat page, such as META data and keywords/topics. We'll also be expanding our website tools section. If anything looks funny, please let us know. We'll keep you updated here on the blog, and a few new sections of the site are planned to start implementing the new statistics.
